I thought SAG Awards was a perfectly good name, but what do I know?
The Actor Awards aren’t as well-known as some of the other award shows of the season, but they’re just as glamorous. This year, they brought some seriously fierce red-carpet looks that I can’t wait to share with you.
Kristen Bell in Georges Hobeika
I almost love this dress. Bell, who hosted the ceremony, was stunning in this silver gown by Georges Hobeika. Unfortunately, the sash/belt situation just does not do it for me. It kind of gives the impression that the outer skirt is just hanging haphazardly from her waist, hurting an otherwise gorgeous look. Still, Bell looks fantastic, and I think this look is a win overall.
Viola Davis in Gucci
Davis, who presented the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, wore my favorite look of the night. I’m biased because green is my favorite color (and in my opinion criminally underrated), but this particular shade of green is absolutely divine on Davis. This is such a beautiful fabric, and I love the way it wraps at the bodice. And the matching necklace? Phenomenal.
Abby Elliott in Paolo Sebastian
Remember what I said in my BAFTAs post about embroidery? Elliott, nominated alongside the cast of FX’s The Bear for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, wore this beautifully detailed gown with a fitted bodice and flowing fringed skirt on the red carpet. I love the way the dress moves, and this is a fantastic color for her. The hair and makeup are also perfect, creating a balanced and fabulous look from head to toe.
Mia Goth in Dior
Goth, nominated alongside the cast of Frankenstein (2025) for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, put a twist on the slip dress style that’s been popular as of late. She keeps the nightgown like satin fabric and lace details but elevates the look by adding this sculptural cutout at the hip, showing the tiered skirt underneath. I also find the pink and black to bring a fun, flirty energy to the look that I love to see.
Sarah Catherine Hook in Balenciaga
I’ve seen people hate on the gloves, but I think they’re fun. Nominated alongside the cast of HBO’s The White Lotus for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Hook chose to wear something a little different on the red carpet. First of all, I love evening gloves. I think more people should wear them because, see above, I think they’re fun. Second, I like that Hook stood out in this bright purple gown against a sea of metallics (and I like the bow details on the side). I’m a big fan of color-blocking, and I’m glad to see people go against the grain and do their own thing on the red carpet.
Mindy Kaling in Yara Shoemaker
Do you know how hard it is to make me like a peplum? Kaling, who presented the award for Presented Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series alongside The Office costars Jenna Fischer, Ellie Kemper and Angela Kinsey, did just that in this gothic, sculptural gown by Yara Shoemaker. The sheer skirt and illusion chest panel, both decorated with sparkling floral embellishments, are really beautiful. This might be my favorite look I’ve seen from Kaling. I saw some critiques of the choice to leave her hair down, but I think it’s giving Morticia Addams, which is always a win in my book.
Britt Lower in Colleen Allen
With two nominations, Lower showed up on the red carpet in this black velvet gown with an extra panel of fabric that drapes over her shoulder. Lower looks great, but I can’t help but feel as though we’re not seeing this dress as it’s meant to be seen. The designer wrote in an Instagram post that metal fibers were woven into the dress to create texture, but in the red-carpet photos that texture is nearly impossible to see. The difficulty of working with black fabric like how it looks depends heavily on the lighting. I personally love this dress both ways, but there’s a clear difference between how it was presented by the designer and how it appeared at the event.
Jenna Ortega in Christian Cowan
Jenna Ortega, nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Wednesday Addams in Wednesday, is always a winner on the red carpet. The torn ivory dress gives the appearance that Ortega just escaped her wedding, and the hair, makeup and accessories all work together to add a ton of personality to the look.
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
Stone, nominated for her role as Michelle Fuller in Bugonia, looked lovely in this purple chainmail dress by Louis Vuitton. I wish I understood the jacket.
Teyana Taylor in Thom Browne
The red carpet queen herself, the twice-nominated Teyana Taylor looked like a piece of art (Met Gala 2026, anyone?) in this custom Thom Browne dress. The bodice is made of panels of different fabrics to give the appearance that it’s been painted on, and I love the way it transitions into the cascading silver skirt. But what really made the look was Taylor’s date, her daughter Rue Rose, who looked very chic in her striped sweater and sparkly combat boots.
Aimee Lou Wood in Versace
An off-the-shoulder gown never goes out of style. Wood, who was up for two awards, was ethereal in this pale blue bandage-esque dress by Versace. I love the way the sheer fabric falls, giving her just a little bit of a train. Versace is known for designs that are on the edgier side, but they really shine with simpler, elegant gowns like this one.
